After 20 plus years of wet shaving, my search for the perfect double edge razor ends here. The smoothest shave ever without a single nick or cut and absolutely no skin irritation. I have tried a lot of international brands which also cost around 10 to 15 times the cost of this humble razor but they failed to impress me the way this one does. The handle is heavy and perfectly balanced, hence there is absolutely no need to apply any pressure. I don’t see any reason why a beginner wouldn’t be able to use this product. The open comb allows a good amount of lather into the grooves hence making the blade glide so easily. A single pass is good enough for a decent shave and if you do 2 to 3 passes you will get a BBS shave. Even after 3 passes there is zero skin irritation. They do provide a pack of 10 blades which is an added bonus at such a reasonable price of 299. I’m actually going to buy another one to gift my son when he starts shaving, so he doesn’t have to try several razors before he finds the perfect one. If everyone switches to these vintage style razors we could reduce so much plastic waste produced by disposable and cartridge type razors. Truly old is gold.
This razor is definitely going to last you a lifetime, so don’t think twice and just go for it. It’s a steal deal at this price. Just one tip, please lather up really well before you shave and also be careful not to drop the razor. However good the quality maybe, most razors of this kind cannot survive a drop and the handle may break into two. Its like any other tool…you treat it with care and it will give you the best service. I used this razor around 3 times and it is my first open comb razor. During lock down situations, I am not shaving regularly so my beard gets longer and before saving with Gillette safety razor I make a pass of this razor.
The open comb is very useful in dealing with long hairs. It’s a must-have in your shaving kit.
The handle is very heavy and feels sturdy while holding in hand.
The chrome polish is incredible and I guess it will not peel off for a very long time.
Overall I am happy with the quality and it is a product worth buying and having in your shaving kit.
(I’d suggest putting a drop of Mobil oil on the threads of the shaving head for smoother operation.)

Quite good. Handling tough beard kept for a week or so. It can cut. Gives a smooth shave. Give a close shave. Gentle on the skin. Less burn but can shave tough beard kept for seven days or more so it’s a tough razor, sharp razor. And it is a little heavy as weight. Helps shave a tough beard smoothly and give a close shave. Good product.
Joy Shaving –
This is a very good razor. Writing a review just after completing a two-pass shave with this razor. As expected, since it’s an open comb it is towards the aggressive side, but very good for 5-6 day stable growth. If you prefer shaving with an open comb this razor gives you the right ergonomic balance, good grip, optimum weight, and perfect blade alignment for a nice shave.
Tip: Use a slightly steeper angle with an open comb razor for smooth shaving and if you are new to open combs do use a pre-shave oil or pre-shave cream before you get used.

The one which I bought is an open comb razor. It’s surely not for the beginners as it is quite aggressive than a close comb razor or bar razor. More blade is exposed to the skin… During my first shave with that razor, I was a little worried that this razor might give me some cuts but surprisingly it didn’t. It went really smoothly… I’m very happy and very satisfied with this product!! Warning: this razor is not for beginners… This is only for experts.

I bought this product after a lot of research. So I am going to share how exactly it behaves. When you use it the first time, you are bound to get cut. Switching from a cartridge razor to an open comb DE does take some time to get used to. I got nearly 5-6 cuts the first time I shaved with this. Second time 3-4 cuts (small ones). Then I learned a few tricks. Before shaving, just soak the razor in warm water for 5 mins. This relaxes the blade and it glides more smoothly. Also, buy a good quality shaving cream (I am using Men Xp Mud Shaving Cream). After I started using these tricks/products, the shaves became very smooth. Cuts almost reduced to 0 and the experience is really nice. One suggestion for buyers would be to use short strokes in case the beard is hard/strong or a bit long. This would cause less irritation. Really nice product this one!!

This is the finest open comb razor. The way it glides through the skin was awesome. Pearl brand continues to deliver the finest products. Having used DE closed safety razor for 6 months, initially, I was skeptical of using an open comb razor due to its aggressiveness. However, after the first pass, understood why this was a high-rated razor. This provides the cleanest shave with few passes. Use this with proper shaving soap and at the proper angle. You won’t regret it !!!

Purchased this during the prime day sale for about 300rs and I was initially extremely disappointed. I had, in a haste, purchased the open comb style and me being a noob didn’t know how to properly use it. Tried that OPEN COMB first-time poor shave, 2nd time again poor shave even cut me several places (even close to the neck)
Was really pissed and disappointed so decided to contact the seller. He then explained that me being the first time should go for CLOSED COMB style and I asked “feather blades or the blades you provide?” They said the ones they provide are perfect for me. Feather blades are a little too strong I might cut myself more xD
On top of that, the seller quite generously sent me a CLOSED COMB STYLE (was supposed to send just the head but sent the entire thing) which was extremely kind and impressive for me. Didn’t charge me a penny and just gave me a new one which is suitable for me.

My second razor. The only other razor I have is Baili BD176 which costs double than this.
This one costs around 300₹ (4$). It is made in India. The material is brass with chrome coating for both head and handle. I do not know enough about metals to question that. The handle is heavy. The head is less so.
The finishing of the razor is good. I shaved with it. It is aggressive enough that I got a clean shave in one pass. My other razor needs at least two or three passes for the same shave.
They also threw in a packet of razor blades.
I would recommend this razor to users who have little experience to not murder themselves. If carefully used, this is a great value for money equipment.
I am planning to buy a complete brass razor from pearl next. The only Brass razor available worldwide costs more than 100$. Pearl has something within 1000₹ range.

The long holder could have been a little less heavy ;
one hopes it’s a trade-off for the longevity of the product.
The blade holding plates are ironically too light.
The design could be improved for better control and price reduced for more likability.

For those who are new to using double edge razors, since it’s heavy keep it as much straight as you can while shaving, use good quality shaving cream or soap, use both hands while shaving ( one holding razor and other stretching skin especially around the neck.). This razor is good because it gives you a close shave.

Extremely impressed with the product. Looks like a precision instrument, and IS a precision instrument. Has the right amount of heft, great knurling on the handle, and top-notch craftsmanship overall. All at a fraction of the prices, one has to pay for a Muhle, a Merkur, or an Edwin Jagger. Used it this morning in spite of a few zits around my chin and guess what, not a single nick! I’m serious. It delivered a BBS shave without drawing a drop of blood in spite of the highly sensitive and uneven topography it had to negotiate.
I must congratulate the manufacturers for bringing out a product that Indians can justifiably be proud of. It is world-class. Keep up the good work. And, if possible, change the style of your logo. It doesn’t do justice to your stellar standards.

It is a very beautiful and heavy safety razor. A beginner should start with a close comb while an experienced one should go for the open comb to get a more aggressive and cleaner shave. I should have given five stars if I had an open comb but I moved from cartridge to safety razor so I had chosen a close comb to avoid razor cuts faced by beginners.

The product looked like it was previously used. The cap on the cutting tip was jammed. It was pressed down real hard and had to break open the plastic cap.

If one is new to wet shaving with a double edge razor, I would recommend buying a close comb razor.
Open comb for now is just for sake of prototype for very vintage double edge razor style.

Heck what is this!!! I am sooo angry I just received this today, and just as I was about to use it for the first time , the handle would not attach with the head. The screw was soo loose !!! I kept screwing it for about 30 minutes but nothing worked. I wasted my money on this . I want a replace ment for that defective handle .

Amazing razor. Had some slight issue with blade alignment initially but was able to fix it. Of course it is aggressive, but well, it is an open comb. Now to see and hope that the chrome coating sticks and this one lasts for a long time. Great job, Pearl team.

I bought pearl SS-04 open razor. After shaving with a cheap cartridge razor for nearly 20 years, I accidentally came across this website of pearl razor on internet. I immediately felt like I ‘have’ to buy one of them! They look so good,so elegant, so classy! Although I didn’t have a clear idea about how safety razors work, I remembered my grandfather using one of these all his life. So I went ahead and ordered one. The razor didn’t disappoint. It looked every bit as classy as it looked on website. And comfortably heavy. Shaving with it is butter smooth. Unlike my last cheap cartridge razor,I don’t have to apply any pressure on the pearl razor. It’s own weight kind of drives itself. I have shaved with it 2-3 times till now. And I have cut myself on a few places. But I am hoping with time I will perfect the skill of shaving with safety razor. It needs a little patience and skill. But at the end of the day, it’s worth it!
